Student Agreement for driver training with Changing Lanes Drive School
The following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which driving lessons and driver training is offered by Changing Lanes Drive School. By booking a lesson with a Changing Lanes Drive School, you acknowledge these terms.
Driving Lesson Availability
Your instructor is free to set his or her own working hours and will advise you of his or her availability. Unless otherwise advised, your instructor will work Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm.
Driving Licenses and Fitness to Drive
To participate in driver training you must hold a current, valid driving license, provisional, full or international, and produce it at the beginning of all your driving lessons.
You must be fit to drive and not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescribed or otherwise, unless approved by VicRoads medical review). You must comply with all the road rules and any instructions directly to you by your driving instructor.
Enclosed footwear must be worn. You must not wear footwear which the instructor thinks may cause safety concerns with the foot controls.
Mobile phones must be switched off or turned onto silent during the driving lesson. We do not accept any responsibility for personal property that is left in a vehicle.
Student Payments and Cancellation
Payments for lessons can be made by bank transfer 48 hours before the lesson, or PayPal/Credit card payment when booking online through the Changing Lanes Drive School website.
We understand that from time to time you may need to reschedule a lesson time or cancel a lesson. When you book a lesson with a Changing Lanes Drive School instructor you are securing a professional trainers time and allocated a custom training vehicle for your lesson. We ensure that their resources are allocated solely to you only for the duration of your lesson booking, and as a result there are associated costs with reserving you these resources.
A minimum of 24hrs notice is required in the instance that you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson time or date. Cancellations can be made via telephone, text message or email. If less than 24hrs notice is provided to Changing Lanes Drive School or your instructor, the full lesson fee will be charged and payable for the lesson. In the instance of driving tests, we require a minimum of 48 business hours’ notice should you wish to reschedule or cancel the test, else the lesson fee and booking fee will still be payable.
If no cancellation notice is given and a student fails to arrive or show up for a scheduled driving lesson or fails to have a current drivers licence on them, the full lesson fee will be charged and payable for the lesson. We strictly uphold our cancellation, rescheduling and no show policy to ensure our high standards and level of service to each and every student.
Cancellation of lesson
Your driving instructor will do everything possible to ensure that your driving lessons start and finish on time. Should your driving instructor be running behind schedule, you will be notified. If the instructor is late to a lesson, they will make a concerted effort to extend the lesson by the time due or credit the time owing to the student’s next driving lesson.
We reserve the right to cancel, postpone or change lesson lengths and start/finish times under certain circumstances (e.g., your driving instructor is sick, dangerous weather conditions, etc). Changing Lanes Drive School will do everything in our power to avoid having to do so, however in the event of postponement, any fees paid will be carried forward to the next driving lesson or refunded upon your request.
The driving instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson at short notice or throughout the duration of the lesson if the student is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, any other condition that would cause the students driving to be dangerous or illegal or does not follow the driving instructors instructions. In such circumstances, the lesson fee is still payable.
Termination of Agreements and Refunds Policy
Both the student and their instructor have the right to terminate any services agreement for any reason, including the ending of driver training services that are already underway. No refunds shall be offered, where a service (e.g. lesson) is deemed to have begun and is, for all intents and purposes, underway.
Discount packages are not refundable or transferable should you not use all the lessons within the packages.
Driving Training Location
All driving lessons will commence and finish at the same location unless an alternative drop off address has been agreed upon when the original lesson booking was made. Any changes to the pick up and drop off address without at least 24 hrs notice to your instructor may result in part of the lesson duration being forfeited to allow for the extra travel time.
Your instructor will determine suitable streets and locations for practical lessons which ensures the safety of the student, instructor and the general public. This may mean that the instructor may need to drive the customer to and from suitable streets and locations, of which still forms part of the driving lesson duration and time.
Training Vehicles
Driver training vehicles provided by Changing Lanes Drive School are roadworthy and fitted with dual controls.
Our instructors make every effort to ensure that the vehicle supplied for driving tests are fully roadworthy and comply with all the legal requirements at all times, but cannot be held responsible for vehicle failure that occurs in the day prior, the day of and during the driving test and we are not liable for any consequential loss.
Driving Tests
Driving tests will in most circumstances be booked by you in collaboration with your instructor. Not having discussed this with your instructor prior to making your booking may result in your instructor not being available for you to use their vehicle for the test.
Driving test bookings should be made a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance from the date of booking. Later bookings can be made if there is a free test spot at your licensing centre.
Due to the limited availability of test appointments with VicRoads, your instructor reserves the right to re-schedule your existing practical driving lessons for other students, where they have booked a practical driving test. Your instructor will provide the same courtesy to you, should the need occur.
Your instructor cannot be held responsible for any test bookings cancelled by VicRoads.

To acknowledge your driver training success in passing your driving test, Changing Lanes Drive School would like to publish your picture on our social media sites (which may include Facebook, Web, Google Plus, Instagram, Twitter). If you do not wish to have your picture published in this manner please let your instructor know after your test.
Terms & Conditions
Basic Terms & Conditions
- If we come to pick you up and you are not there or change your mind, full fee will apply.
- Payment must be finalised prior to lesson or lesson may be cancelled.
- Drive Test fees exclude all VicRoads fees.
- A booking can be secured by making a payment at time of booking.
- Overseas licence holders must have all documents translated by the proper authorities and must have all identification with them on the day of the driving test, full fees will still apply if driving test is not conducted because of lack of documentation.
- Three payment methods are available – Direct bank transfer, credit card via PayPal online checkout system and PayPal to PayPal account transfer. Paying through PayPal checkout system will incur an additional 4% processing and handling fee.
- Upfront payment (through direct bank transfer or PayPal) is required when you request multiple bookings or booking to have a lesson on a Saturday.
Discount Package Deals Terms and Conditions
- Packages deals non transferable, non refundable, cannot be redeemed for cash.
- All packages deals must be paid in full at time of booking first lesson (lay-buys not accepted). Not to be used in conjunction with any other special offers.
- All discount packages must be completed within 6 months from date of purchase.
- Package Deal Lessons that are cancelled/rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice are deducted from the total amount of lessons remaining in that pack.
- All package deals must be paid in full at time of booking first lesson.
Gift Voucher Terms & Conditions
- All Gift Vouchers are valid for 6 months after purchase date.
- Vouchers are non-refundable or changeable(manual or auto), and not transferable to another person.
- Unused vouchers cannot be refunded.
- Please treat vouchers like cash. If lost we cannot replace. Onus is on the recipient.
- It is expected the details of these terms & conditions is passed on to the recipient by the purchaser.
We reserve the right to change these conditions from time to time. Your continued use of our services will signify your acceptance of any adjustment to these terms. These terms and conditions form part of the agreement between you as a client and Changing Lanes Drive School Pty Ltd. You accessing the Changing Lanes Drive School website and/or undertaking of a booking indicates your understanding, agreement to and acceptance, of the full Terms and Conditions contained herein.
